  1. terrible service. at robinson towers, not sure about other outlets..

    we went for the jet bath and steam bath for $21.40 (incl. GST). but we were dismayed at their poor service.. they are unfriendly, and didn't bother to introduce us what services they have.. the service staff was so impatient as she guided us to the bath, walking really fast, leaving three of us behind, almost chasing after her... when we were led to the bath, she just 'throw' us our towels and shower caps, didnt even take the initiative to show us around... my friend had to stop her before she go to ask her where's the steam bath etc. The bath is terrible, not relaxing at all, the lights are so bright... i would rather go to the swimming pool... the water was also quite dirty, and the surroundings too... you see moss on the grounds..makes you wonder if they actually clean that place...

    their ngee ann city outlet has closed down, i wonder if this will soon, looking at their terrible service.. don't go.. there are better spas out there...

  2. there s a spa located near to Chong Pang Nasi Lemak Coffeeshop (the one nearer to the bus stop) that s provide value for money services. Simply great and even better than some spa s in town.

  3. Giman Beauty / Modern Beauty / Be Sanctuary spa chain run some of the worst spas I have ever come across. The staff are pushy and are always recommending expensive upgrades even when you don't need them. My advice is not to sign up for any package with this lot as the rooms are small and the people lack professionalism.

  4. I second to the comment. They quite sux. Giman used to be called Modern Beauty

    The staff turnover is very high and standard very inconsistent. As they have lots of customers as well, they never seem to remember you when you go in unless the normal masseau/ beautician you request.

    They do have 1-2 good ones but they don’t stay long or will be re-located (meaning you may have to travel far to find the masseau/ beautician).

    And management is definitely not professional (either fm China or Msia) and very pushy. My friend once made a complaint as the pimple is not cleaned properly, hence, got a big infection and has to go to a doctor and cost a couple of hundreds for treatment. Not only they do not apologize, they just seem to shrug it off and only offered if she want to change to other package like massage.

    You are going to spa to relax, but you get more stressed and irritating if the staffs keep trying to ask you to upgrade or get other package.

    The price maybe one of the cheapest but you get lousy service.

    I’ve remaining package, but I surely wont continue to extend.

  5. 但我个人觉得他们外面的人有些是不好的,他们都是很假的,要你还钱的时后就对你很好过了几次就不给你服务了,但是现在就好一点了因为现在有很多美容师和masseau都会帮我进booking了,所以我现在还在这间我都是因为他们这么努力的帮我。。。不然我才不来呢!

  6. I used to visit the branch at AMK for facials.... And I tell you, their service is really terrible. The staffs are extremely pushy - The beautician will keep bugging you to try this and that (blar, blar, blar) when she is doing your face! Come on! That's not relaxing at all!!!!! I go for facials to relax, not to get myself irritated and angry.

    There is also a few times the sales people there refused to let me go after my session ended. They do so by processing my payment extremely slowly, so that they could try and sell me something during that waiting period. Very unprofessional and desperate bunch of people.

    Also don't bother to try them out even they give you "promotions" because they will always force you to buy some upgrades the next time you return for another session on the promo package. They will say that "this this this" is not in the promo package, so you have to buy new upgrades (which is pretty expensive).

    I still have a few sessions with them, but I am not going there anymore. Just treat it as if I donated some money to some mad women in AMK. I am not going to torture myself there.

  8. Yes I strongly agreed to all the above as I have signed 2-3 packages and some isn't relevant to my needs. They are one hell of pushy pushy from one after another with every alternate visits.It's very annoying and my God the prices was not just expensive.It is "Extremely Expensive"....

    I once tried their Diamond peel facial, the therapist skill was supperb.However, the slimming therapist was very unprofessional and once have signed and tried the HOTMASK for firming tummy.During the trial for the very first time was considered exceptable and you could really feel the effect and the therapist wrapped my tummy with about 3.5cm thick of mask when the treatment completed.However for the 2nd round when you had already paid the money for the course i realized that the mask thickness has gone thinned to about 1.5cm and naturally the effectiveness has dropped.And had paid a total of $1700.

    Its all"BULL SHIT CHEATING".

  9. Bad experience at Jurong East Branch.

    Annoying and desperate sales person and bad service.

    Initially, they said would give me fantastic freebies if i sign up any session. No mininum purchase was required. Thought it was good then signed for 10 sessions. ONCE i signed, they changed their statement by saying on 20 sessions then entitled. Felt so cheated and argued back. They said all rights are reserved.

    Forced to take the Diamond peel facial by saying my skin condition was real poor. Later on,deducted my 4 facial sessions for it.Then pushed me to top up another 10 sessions and enjoy wonderful freebies again.

    NO WAY.

    Reservation service is lousy as always no slot. The reason is the clients have made their reservation since 1 month ago.

    Feel so cheated and irritated by this beauty centre. Never want to go back regardless of how good deal the price they offer.

  10. I beg to differ actually. Before I went there I was told by my gf (who sponsored me a voucher) to be firm on not to sign up anything.

    I did a DNA exfoliating facial treatment. I have not gone for facial for about two years, and the facial certainly made my dull face brighten up again. The extraction was not as painful as I expected. and I added a collagen eye mask, which amazingly reduced quite abit of my eye puffines after a few days (on the first day after the facial it was very puffy). The eye massage and face massage were very good too.

    I was impressed with the first trial and decided to sign up a package, which after sometime of negotiation,they gave quite a good price. They tried to convince me to sign up more, but when I firmly said no, they did not push further. Also, they did not try to say that ur skin is bad and needs this and that. My skin is average, with quite large pores. In fact, they said that my skin is pretty good for someone who hasnt done facial for sometime. They shared with me on all the services they provided, but didnt push me.

    Maybe it is only my first time, that's why they are nice. But i'll see what happens when I start going there regularly.

  11. Some of the staff at Giman are very rude. At the start when I was there on first-time trial, they are really nice and friendly. Now after i have signed up a package with them, they turn rude and have no sense of customer service.

  12. there is forever no slots because some "die hard" customers had filled in the booking form which i had never seen before much before me.i called them almost every week and the excuse given is always the same. you know to the extent that booking for next year cannot be confirm because their customers had already write in the bookings before me. i think they should open bookings for 10years later so that i can start booking....

  13. I personally have bad experiences with the one at Toa Payoh branch. Each time i go there, new recommendation and package offer and always "today is the last day offer". Told them too many packages and alot of instalment to pay. Currently I have 3 instalments that is paying to them and not to mention my other instalments. They just kept pushing with no concern whether you can afford to pay or not. They even made me to sign a document that I will sign up another package via instalment the next trip and deducted my "columns" and pay cash for the 1st treatment for lymph detox treatmemt. Initially told me at S$300 them when I said cant sign up, become $600 and signed that stupid paper for the instalment payment for 10 sessions next mth. Checked with my friend and she got a better deal at Tampines for the same treatment. Their package offer differs from branch to branch. Cant wait to finish my course and instalment payment and GET OUT of their clutches.

  19. Always fully booked. No available slots. Bad customer service, not professional, rude and pushy. Generally rooms and linen lack in cleanliness. All they are interested is to sell the packages. Will never sign up for additional packages no matter how cheap!

  20. I am a long time Super Diamond VIP since Modern Beauty 1st branch at Pidemco Centre. All these years I spent close to $15,000 at this horrible place. Not because I liked it...But because they kept using the tactic that my package is expiring and I need to top up so it won't expire! Tell me, when you had paid a huge amount initially, would you let it expire? No! But how can you ever finish if everytime you call to make an appointment, they are fully booked? Even if you call one month in advance, you still get no appointment?! What kind of relaxation it is when you are undressed in the room and trying to catch a wink when the Manager keeps walking in to turn on the lights and hard-sell you? For every treatment I go, they'll sell me something that I don't want or simply don't need. (I swear it happens on EVERY single visit for all these 10 years!) Why is it so painful to go for a facial? The last treatment I had, they approached me 5 times, before, during and after the treatment to buy a new package. In the end, when they are convinced I will not buy, they did not even offer me a cup of water after treatment. When they were trying to sell me, they said they would help me to book every week so slimming would be effective. When I did not buy, they told me they cannot guarantee that I would get an appointment as they are fully booked. I feel very sad and stupid. I was so desperate to finish my package that each time they said they want me to try a new and very good treatment, I let them deduct my coupon. During me last treatment, they deducted 8 of my Super Diamond VIP and 1 crystal to do a Light treatment. This costs me about $900! For slimming, they insist I must do a Tibet wrap to be effective and this costs me another $400. If I were not desperate to complete this course, who in the right mind, would spend $1300 during one treatment?!!!! I really want to get out of this place. Frankly, can anyone tell me if this is the only salon that's like that or is it a norm in the market? Thanks.

    It is simply mind boggling that when I asked to speak to their manager, they had the cheek to say there is no such avenue. If this is not a sore case of consumer rights being compromised, I don't know what is. I feel absolutely cheated signing up with them.

  27. Can you believe it! I fill in a appointment request slip on 7 July to request for appointment on just one weekday a week and they can only give me an appointment on only 1 day in the month of Aug! I'm getting really irritated. This is the same every month. I had to go to their Robinson Towers to scream and shout before I get an extra appointment in July - 2 appointments and 1 of them where I'm supposed to have a facial and massage, they cannot do the massage cos they n claim their staff is sick!

    I've been stupid enough to be signing on packages with them since their Pidemco days and I promise myself this would be the last! At 1 appointment a month, it's going to take me more than 3 yrs to use up my package, i.e. assuming they will still be around by then. I'm getting worried. They are showing the same symptons as the centres that eventually close - the main complain amongst their customers was that they cannot get appointments!

    I think we should join together and put up a blog to share with others our bad experiences so that there won't be more victims.

  28. i have been with modern beauty for almost 5 yrs!

    Wah tell me that my 20+ session plus other packages all expired.
    Their freaking sales consultants never once said anything about expiry dates & all they know is sell sell sell.. ask u to buy buy buy.
    Bloody unethical!
    Cannot use finish, got expiry still Freaking wana cheat us to buy & buy.
    This Freaking Lishan from their hotline customer svc tried to cheat me to change my package to a more expensive facial treatment ,so she can out of Bloody bullshit "Goodwill" extend the packages.
    I told her i dun want all these bulshit. I only want extension of at least 2 yrs so i can use my package. She just reject lor even though i told her "fine, I will just go to CASE"
    She can't be bothered lor.
    I am so writing to CASE.
    Please tell me if it will work.

So many people are suffering from pressurizing into buying packages from GIMAN/MODERN-BEAUTY. it appears to me that they are not able to deliver many the services that are already paid in advance. Customers are finding so much difficulty in making booking and at the same time threatened by the expiring date. THIS IS JUST NOT FAIR. I never encounter such bad experience from buying service/products in SINGAPORE such as this. IT'S REALLY A SHAME TO SINGAPORE. I wonder how can CASE help the consumers in this case?

  31. totally agree with the comments. they hard sell to my mom who does not read english and get her to sign many documents. Show black face when she does not sign. The spa has no professionalism especially at the branch, they did not bother even to explain treatments when I want to take over my mom package. terrible, terrible experience. I hope CASE or some Singapore regulator is able to better regulate this industry. Yen

  33. giman beauty and wellness is a horrible company to go to for any face or body treatments as they only force you to buy packages, once they got the money, it will be too hard to get a booking unless you buy another one. management has no ethcis at all.

    this company is owned by a hong kong national that sucks the money of singaporean people. it has changed its company name for many times so continue cheating singaporean customers. the government should check on this company before it can re-change company name again.

    please check them out.....

  34. I'm w them for 10 over yrs since their pidemco outlet. Soft- nature makes me an easy prey for them. Always wanted to use up my package ends up signing more w them. They always makes me feel ugly tt I want to buy better quality facial to help myself. All lies. Nothing much seems to help aft being w them for long. Technique to sell per facial v cheap eg$40 buy in 20 times pay in instalments. But the nx time u go they will say nt suitable for ur face today they recommend a light treatment need to deduct 5 slots. They will keep cmg to the small rm turn on the irritating bright light tok & tok & explain. V stressful. Thinking all my hard earn $ spent there. Really heart pain. They will blame y so long nv visit them, my skin condition must go twice per mth. When I say I can't book w u guys Always fully booked. They say oh is it ok wat book 2 wk's in advance. Oh cz I choose peak hrs. Cme on who doesn't hv to wk of cz aft office hr then go wat. Tot I m Taitai no need to wk meh. Hope I can faster use up my package to end these frustration.

  35. Someone approached me trying to sell their $20 facial treatment. Thinking it was quite cheap for a facial treatment, I bought it. The treatment was quite ok, but they kept pushing me to buy their package. Shared a package with my friend, because I told them we are still students, cant afford the 1.2k. But we paid $50 first, telling them we dont have $600 to fork out now. Was considering whether to go for the next 10 treatments or not. If no, it means I paid $70 for one treatment, and I signed the documents. And don't know if I will get sued by them for not paying the remaining $530. If I continue going, it will be wasting my money. So can anyone tell me if it's possible not to go for the remaining treatments and not pay up the money if I signed the documents.

Are there anyone who won it as well? What discounts are there? Was considering to collect it if the vouchers are worth for me going so far to collect them.

  38. Agree,I am also the victim for Giman. I am the super VIP customer signing up S6k and they promise me with freebies and no expiry date.
    3 years ago, there was a dispute on the free jazzuci with green tea or milk and they gave me normal spa ( just water la) after i signed the contract. I realised that the contract did not specify jacuzzi with green tea/milk, just jazzuci. I went to customer service (Ms Lishan ) to complain and it was totally a waste of my time as she is not responsive and never give me a satisfactory answer.
    And they also promise me there is no expiry date. Recently went to their Toa Payoh branch they said mine has expired and want me to sign a document to get the package extended 2 years. I immediately say no to them . To my horror I realised the contract I had in hand did not say anything expiry date, they said they could suspend my package anytime.
    The person who sell the package includes the CEO of Singapore Amanda.

    What a CRAP!! Totally unprofessional and dishonest.

I went to the boonkeng branch and another consultant did my facial for me.. tried selling me their light technology for pimples n said i can just deduct 3 columns from my package and 1 for facial. i said no. she said if thats the case, why dont you pay in cash? Bloodsuckers. inconsistent service, pushy, kept asking me why not when i said NO. All of the counter staff treated me like i was transparent as i walked out of their salon.

I went there for about 10 times or more and some of the things you people mention are really true,especially the chatty staff who keeps asking my mum to sign up, they keep pressing on the calculator so fast that they think that we have super eyes to track the numbers. But my mum was firm and they said no more. However, i got to say that their service did not dissapoint me. There was one china staff who had good massage skills. Some staff were very sweet but the ones at the counter was a little pushy. I advice you guys to go to the orchard branch. The people there are quite professional and will not pester you like a swarm of bees

  41. I do encounter the worst treatment I ever had. Mine is also a BoonKeng Branch at 101 Towner Road. LED treatment no facial no mask blood sucker $100 cash. No service from their staff. Waited more than 10 minutes for my apptmt. So unprofessional, no integrity and bloodsucker company

I was a super VIP customer for 3 years, did not want to sign up for their package when mine ended last year but when I visited the one at Chinatown, one of the sales girls with big eyes was quite pushy and tried to sell me another package. After signing, I thought the nightmare ended but in fact subsequent visit they started to cross sell u packages like the diamond peel, great spore sale offer. The attitude was bad when I rejected it n they are so persistent till the time I pick up my receipt about to leave n they can still try their last chance to cross sell u again! Worst is that one of the beautician told mi they are gg to be listed in HK which means their package will be more exp! Wonder how they
    manage to make it in HK and if it is true....I jus want to finish my remaining session and end the torture soon!

  43. I tried to book my next appointment on 26 Nov after finished my treatment. Unfortunately, the manager refused to book the appt for me and advised me to go online booking. I think this is Very unprofessional and is really waste customer's time and energy. Reservation service is lousy as always. I hope CASE or some Singapore regulator is able to check on its ethics.

  44. I just signed up for some Bio C facial, 10 sessions for $3k in early Nov 2011. I went for facial just last weekend and they want me to buy some phototherapy with lycopene treatments at $2000 per session. They think I am printing money.

    Both manager (Joleyn) and therapist (Chin Eng) from the Somerset branch refuse to let me go. Even ask me to put down a deposit. I just told them I dont have money. And left. They are extremely pushy, and use all sorts of tactics. And am really foolish to spend so much money in Giman.

  45. I've been a Giman beauty customer for more than 10 years, since it's called Modern Beauty. Their service really sucks big time now. I was conned to buy more packages at AMK outlet, a few consultants will surround me in a small room, adding pressure and asking me to buy more by withholding my credit card. After I had bought the treatments and went back a month later, they pressured me to buy other treatment packages by tricking me to try other treatments. They will deduct a few of my treatment credits without my knowledge and convert to a single more "expensive" treatment. This is sooooo unethical!! I'm asking Gimen for refund now, if failed I will have to approach CASE for help. I will never go back to Gimen again, they just lost a loyal customer of over 10 years.

  46. Frist visit Gimen was I got a free voucher outside Tanjong Pagar MRT in 2009. After that visit at Giman Takashimaya branch, finding their service not bad, also my facial package with other company was going to end soon, I therefore signed out a package around $2400. Then they tried to sell me more packages. I rejected and they kept pressing me and didn't want to return me my credit card. And endup I signed a package of $6K consists of 150 facials. With all the promises they gave, most of them are not true! e.g. I can share the package with friends and family. When I brought my friend there the first time, they told me that i need to buy a voucher for my friend! after I argued with them, they agreed that will be the last time. Sequence visit, I am so stress, they keep asking me to sign up new packages..and today I had spent more than 20K with this company. With so many facials+messages, I wonder when can I finish it! But they still ask me to sign new package each time i visit! Yesterday I had my facial, again asked me to sign up a new package! After I refused their attutide change! After facial I want to book the next appointment and they told me that I need to sign up package or buy christmas package in order to book the period from 21 Dec to 14 Feb. It is really a terrible company!

  48. After paying everything, they will force to sign on their discharge form and if I disagree,
    they refused to provide me the service which they did in Dec.

    I don't want their extension as these are useless to me when there areno slots and when I am forced to sign on their form.



    It was so difficult to get the slots despite
    their reservation method. It's useless to me if they extend the services
    and I cannot get the slots.



    They also forced me to sign the form which I refused and
    modern beauty breached the contract by refusing to provide the service in
    Dec 13. I maintain that I still want a full refund and nothing less and they ignore my request. To me,
    this is clearly intimidation, force coercion, unfair company practices and
    deception.


    They did not tell me there is a validity period of 2 years when I purchase the package.

  50. Bad Management at Tampines ( Modern Beauty )

    Appointment for 2 slots were booked a month ago and
    received a call one day earlier before the appointed date that only one slot available. At first, the in-charge insisted
    that only one slot was booked but after elaborating past
    incidents on such happenings; she explained that staff who went on leave / mc is beyond their control. Therefore, need to re-schedule appointments. Customers are not free to meet to other scheduled appointment and that's the reason why we book the appointment a month ago. Then what is the purpose of having online booking for appointment. Just to show the advancement of your beauty business and yet lacking on the quality of customer services. In this instance, CASE must be consulted for further action.
