Sawadika Massage & Salon Christopher at Batam

Haha.... yesterday I had the cheapest massages of my life. Although I know this blog is dedicated to spas in Singapore, I have to post a blog of this. A day out with my group of gfs turned out to be a very fun and therapeutic one - from relaxation to retail therapy.

We started our relaxation program with a 1.5 hour Bali massage at Sawadika near Top 100 at Nagoya. Expect nothing fancy from this place, its basically beds seperated by curtains and just two toilets shared by all the patrons. So u get men and women walking around even if u are wrapped in a towel. But hey the great thing is, no one gives a damn whether u are in towels/lose shorts or ur polo shirts - its pure massage, get-on-the-bed-i'll-just-do-my-massage-job-kind-of -thing. The massage technique was average, but for the bang of the buck, its well worth its price. 1.5 hours of oil massage can get addictive and when u start falling asleep you'll know its time to get up when the masseur squeezes loads of powder on ur body and rubs it all over. Tipping is a common thing so don't get annoyed if your masseur hangs around u while u get dressed.

Oh well the best part of the package is that u can laugh ur way throughout the massage. 1.5 hour oil massage costs 100k Rp which is about equivalent to sgd$14. Other types of massage on the list includes full body scrub 120k Rp which is basically a full body massage using body scrub instead of massage oil. Its great if u have blackheads on ur back to shed off. 1.5h of body scrub is sure to shed off excess dead skin. Besides body scrub massage, there is Thai Massage and foot reflexology.

SAWADIKA Komplek TOP 100 Blok C No.7 - NagoyaPhone 0778-450616

The shop is just across the road from Top 100 Shopping Centre. Ask around the people in Top100, they are sure to guide u there as it is a popular place.

The next relaxation activity on the list was a CREAMBATH at Salon Christopher at the shopping mall just opposite Batam Ferry Terminal. If u only have enough time on your trip to choose one massage, this has to be the one. I will describe it as almost an intense head, shoulders and hands massage for slightly more than an hour. They give you a good hair wash, then slab on some hair masque with additional vitamins (optional), and then... comes the orgasmic experience where they massage ur scalp, then your shoulder, then your arms right down to your palms and tip of every finger. My gfs' mum had a chronic pain on her palm, and amazingly after the massage the pain dissappeared. I got lucky, as my creambath expert was a cute indo guy, an eye candy for sure on the mirror in front of you. All this for 80k Rp which is about sgd$8.

Salon Christopher is a chain of salons, so fret not if u cant get to Batam Ferry Terminal. There's another outlet at Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre.

  1. Totally agree that this was the cheapest massage I ever had. I had the scrub massage at Sawadika. It was good although I think they should have an option for scrub and a separate option for massage rather than combining them into one. My skin felt squeaky clean afterwards. I have to minus brownie points for the toilet facilities. The shower had an musky/mouldy smell which I didn't like. Having said that, i would definitely re-visit again.
The creambath at Salon Christopher. Erm... not sure about the "organsmic experience" description but the massage is so fantastic that I wish I can bring the Masseuse back with me!! Definitely worth a try. One downside: the towel is a bit stinky so byo!
